BGSU RSA

Branding, Merchandise, Layout Design

Strategy

As part of a full rebranding initiative for Bowling Green State University’s Resident Student Association (RSA), I developed a refreshed visual identity aimed at enhancing campus presence, recognition, and student engagement. Through a mix of bold typography and adaptable design elements, the new system supports everything from print materials to digital outreach. This project emphasized accessible design, collaborative feedback, and the creation of a brand that feels iconic, representative, and inclusive.

Skills

The rebrand of BGSU's Resident Student Association began with working directly with the RSA executive board to co-write a manifesto that captured the organization’s voice, values, and commitment to student life. This process helped shape a visual identity rooted in clarity and inclusivity. The logo, centered around a minimalist speech bubble that subtly references the shape of a house, symbolizes open communication, community, and representation, key pillars of RSA’s mission. Its simplicity also ensures easy recognition across BGSU's campus.

BGSU RSA Logo

Branding, Logo Design

The Resident Student Association's logo highlights the importance that the student organization places on speaking up for oneself and others in a college residence hall environment. Multiple variants of the logo were provided to the student organization to allow for flexibility in logo use, specifically for campus wide entertainment events, as well as on any official documentation meant to directly enact change on campus.

BGSU RSA Manifesto Zine

This manifesto booklet focuses on the need for student government on college campuses. As an organization, RSA constantly asks themselves what we can do to improve the lives of those around them, often asking themselves the question, “how can we promote unity within a college campus?” This exact question is repeated throughout the manifesto in many different forms, but most importantly they all bring back to the same central idea of improving the lives of others and making them feel safe.

The repeat of the RSA speech bubble logo shows the importance of speaking up and getting involved to make a change around you. While this booklet specially explores how RSA makes a change and why you should join, one can take these symbols and take the importance of speaking up into other topics.

Layout Design, Creative Writing, Community Outreach

A journal handed out to BGSU students at RSA's booth during Campus Fest 2023. This journal consisted of blank pages with an orange trim and had a black cover with an engraved BGSU RSA logo.

These BGSU RSA bucket hats are given out as prizes at Resident Student Association events such as campus bingo, bed races, and general assembly meetings. These bucket hats are grey and consist of an embroidered orange BGSU RSA logo.

Given out at the Back to School Kreisher Kick Off, these BGSU RSA kites were provided to students to fly across campus. Outside of acting as a way to advertise BGSU RSA to the student population, these kites acted as an interactive activity for students living in the windy city of Bowling Green, Ohio.
