Zumiez Rebrand
UX/UI, Branding, Research, Project Management, Community Outreach
Zumiez: Skating Made Easy is a team-led rebrand aiming to reconnect Zumiez with the local skateboarding community. Responding to criticism from core skaters online, the project focuses on transforming Zumiez into a more community-driven brand. Our redesign includes a bold new logo inspired by skate deck art and street culture, a refreshed website, event materials for local skate clinics, and branded assets like mailers. This reimagined Zumiez acts not just as a retailer, but as a collaborator in the skate culture it serves.
Strategy
Our strategy was built around external into local and online skate communities, where we discovered a disconnect: Zumiez often serves as a gateway into skating but fails to engage with or support the local scene. To bridge this gap, our rebrand centers on community collaboration and localized outreach. Throughout this project, I guided overall direction and contributed heavily to brand development, envelope design, event planning, and a refreshed website experience, all aimed at making Zumiez an authentic partner in modern skate culture.

Zumiez Presentation
Presentation Design, Research
Bringing together all major elements of the Zumiez rebrand, this presentation includes our refreshed branding assets, design applications, and outreach strategies. It also showcases our visual identity, in forms of our bold new logo to the dynamic website and print materials support a more community-driven direction. The presentation also highlights how Zumiez can use these tools to authentically connect with skaters at the local level and reposition itself as an ally to the culture it serves.
Zumiez Outreach Initiative
Research, Community Outreach, Event Planning
The community outreach design for the Zumiez rebrand centers on reestablishing trust and connection with local skateboarding scenes. I helped lead the development of a branded event setup, featuring a Zumiez tent and banner, created to appear at local skate parks and community skateboarding events. One key example of this initiative is a proposed collaboration with GOSKATE, an organization that connects beginner skaters with local instructors. These events would promote accessibility, foster mentorship, and demonstrate Zumiez’s renewed commitment to supporting local skating culture in a hands-on way.
Zumiez Website Homepage
UX/UI, Prototyping, Design Proposal
The website redesign for Zumiez brings a fresh, modern look to the brand while maintaining its core identity. I played a significant role in crafting a user-friendly experience that aligns with the rebranding goals. The site now features a clean and intuitive interface, making it easy for users to explore the new clothing and accessory collections, check out upcoming skateboarding events, and learn about the refreshed store locations. Additionally, the website includes a fun, engaging feature: a chance for visitors to win a free skateboard, creating further excitement and interaction with the brand. This redesign ensures that Zumiez’s online presence is as dynamic and community-driven as the physical stores and events they host.
